Overview

The Panama Pacifico Area is one of the most important projects of the Panamanian Government that develops an international trade hub and attracts large multinational companies, logistics services, commerce and industry. The main objective of this Special Economic Area is the attraction of new direct foreign investment and the creation of jobs in Panama.

With this ambitious project, that includes economic and legal benefits, the Republic of Panama promotes the development of different industries such as logistics, sea and air transportation, high-technology, call centers, shared services, among others.

This Special Economic Area uses public – private partnership for the development of the zone, and encourage effective policy compliance with relevant regulatory frameworks. These entities are London & Regional Panama and Panama Pacifico Agency. This team is in charge of the development, administration, planning, and promoting the zone in one hand, and regulating zone activities in the other.

  1. Panama Pacifico Agency – Government entity responsible for managing, promoting, regulating, designing and executing policies, which are directly or indirectly related to the operation and development of the Panama Pacific Area. As well as to assist and inform investors about the business opportunities and benefits that the Panama Pacifico offers.
  2. London & Regional Panama– Company that develops the Area for 40 years (renewable for another 40 years). It is responsible for proposing the Site Development Plans according to the Master Development Plan.

Location

Panama Pacifico is strategically located at the Pacific Ocean entrance of the Panama Canal on the former Howard Air Force Base just across the Bridge of the Americas. This special economic area is placed in the heart of the worldwide trade with direct access to the Pan-American Highway, connecting Panama with Central and North America, next to the port of Balboa at the Pacific Ocean, at fifteen minutes from downtown Panama City, forty five minutes from Tocumen International Airport, and just an hour away from the largest container port complex located in the Caribbean Sea.
