Scarlett Martinez International Airport
Overview
Scarlett Martinez International Airport was established originally as a base for the United States Air Forces, them it was used as an auxiliary airstrip until the 90’s. Later, it was then passes into Panamanian hands and reopened in 2013 under the current name.
In January 2014, the Civil Aviation Authority transferred the airport to Tocumen International Airport.
Scarlett Martinez International Airport starts operations in August 2014 with charter flights from Sunwing Airline, flight from Toronto, Canada. The operation was established with two weekly frequencies, Monday and Friday. One year later, in November 2015, Air Transat began operations, also with a charter flight with a B737-800 aircraft of 190 passengers, and was established with two weekly flights on Monday and Thursday, from Quebec, Canada.
The Scarlett Martinez International Airport was designed for an operation based on the Boeing 757-200 critical aircraft, which has a maximum takeoff weight of 115,680 kg
Currently, both Air transit and SunWing Airlines operate commercial flights.
