Metro Overview

The construction of the Panama Metro, first in all of Central America, started in 2011 by the Metro Secretariat, according to Law 109 of 2013.

It started operations on April 6, 2014 with a system of 14 stations, starting in San Isidro and ending at the Albrook station, located next to the transport terminal.

As of January 2015, the Panama Metro became a public limited company wholly owned by the State, in charge of planning, promoting, directing, regulating, coordinating, supervising, arranging, controlling and executing the infrastructure and equipment works for the Metro, as well as its operation, security, administration, maintenance, expansion and the provision of the other services related to the Metro in all its phases.
