Airports Overview

Internationally, Tocumen International Airport is the he most important airport in Panama.  In 2015 the airport reported 141,642 operations, where 129,722 are commercial operations (passengers).. These numbers once again prove that Tocumen International Airport is one of the most important airports of the region. 

Given Panama's strategic geographic position, Copa Airlines uses Tocumen International Aiport as a main hub for connecting flights. Their operations represents more than 80% of the passengers that used Tocumen.  The year 2014 continues as a promising year for Tocumen International Airport as well as for Copa given the current expansion projects and the increase in demand for tourism in Panama. Tourism is also affecting positively all local airports in Panama. A regional airlines such as Air Panama has been consistently growing and flying to new destinations.  Local airports throughout the country have also been under expansion in order the accomodate the increasing number of visitors, such as Enrique A Jimenez in Colon, Enrique Malek in Chiriqui, and Rio Hato in Cocle.
